While Performing a Mystery Shop

  • Do not act nervous, consult your notes, or act in a fashion that will blow your cover.
  • Always get a receipt for the items you have purchased to perform the given mystery shop.
  • Always have on your person the Private Investigator License Board certification card. If you are exposed as an undercover mystery shopper, you may be asked to display your PILB card, otherwise a casino operator may subject you to intensive questioning & investigation.
  • Note times of arrival, interactions, ordering taking, arrival of F&B, etc.
  • Note each name of all employees being evaluated with appropriate descriptive information of each employee.
  • If someone asks you “Are you a Mystery Shopper?” do not presume your cover is blown. You can easily respond back to this question with another question “What is a Mystery Shopper?” Do your best to defer these types of questions by simply playing dumb.
  • If you your cover is blown while performing a mystery shop your evaluation will not be accepted by QSI Specialists, nor will you receive payment for your work.
